NANO SMALL CAR

Background
TATA Motors got into the passenger car segment with the indica and the primary reason for this was the increasing competition and cyclical nature of the demand for commercial vehicles after the reforms of 1991 by the Indian government.
Hence Ravi Kant wanted newer ideas and selected his promising young engineers 20 in number and asked them to cut costs by 10%. By that afternoon a basic reduction of 6.5% was arrived at , but kant wanted 10 and he gave them 3 weeks to achieve the same.
Transformation of TATA MOTORS started in 2000 although it began with a loss it returned to profit in 2003. During this period efficiency had increased and employee's were encouraged to take voluntary retirement.
After making the ACE small carrier for the indian market TATA now wants to target the 2 Wheeler and second hand car buyers with it's small and cheap car. Although all the competitors like suzuki were skeptical TATA has managed to keep the sticker price of the basic model at 1 lakh rupee's.
